Bloc spokesman to El Wassat: 'Citizens will back Tebboune in the presidential election'

The El Wassat daily published an article by journalist Hakim Malek entitled 'Islamist parties bet on Hassani in the presidential election', which included a statement by the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc's official spokesman, Dr Abdelkader Kotcha, on the political landscape ahead of the presidential election of 7 September 2024.
The spokesman said the MSP's bet on its leader, Abdelaali Hassani Cherif, as candidate would not deliver the results the movement hopes for, citing the fragmentation of the Islamist electorate, while other parties and movements had voiced support for a second term for the President of the Republic.
Mr Kotcha stated that many associations, civil-society actors and national-current political parties had expressed full support for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune running for a second term, adding that, in his reading of the political scene, the current majority wants him to run and would stand behind him if he did.
