To strengthen consultation and coordination among civil-society actors, the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc Institution, represented by its vice-president Mr Salah Miloudi, took part in the meeting organised by the president of the National Observatory of Civil Society, Dr Ibtissem Hamlaoui, on Thursday 27 March 2025 at the Observatory’s headquarters.

Constructive discussions on the role of civil society: the meeting, which brought together 19 representatives of national and local associations and institutions, stressed the importance of opening channels of dialogue among all civil-society actors. Dr Hamlaoui affirmed that the Observatory welcomes all associations without exception, as part of its vision of civil society as a key partner in national development.

The Bloc’s contribution: in his remarks, Mr Salah Miloudi highlighted the role of active associations such as the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc in achieving sustainable development, stressing the need to involve civil society in shaping public policy and in finding practical solutions to social and economic problems. He also underlined the importance of State support for civil-society initiatives and of easier contact with official bodies to ensure the effective implementation of development projects.

Main points discussed:

  • presentation of the Observatory’s digital platform, designed to enhance transparency and communication among civil-society actors;
  • setting aside Thursdays and Saturdays to receive association representatives, giving them more opportunity to raise concerns and proposals;
  • the need for associations to present their vision of national development, strengthening their contribution to local and national policy-making;
  • encouraging consultation with local authorities to ensure genuine interaction between civil society and local government;
  • stronger support from the Observatory for associations, through the backing and guidance they need to carry out their projects effectively.

Towards a stronger partnership: the meeting stressed that the coming period requires the combined efforts of all civil-society actors. The Observatory’s president praised the participation of active associations and expressed the Observatory’s readiness to support all initiatives serving the nation and its citizens.

The Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc Institution welcomes this initiative and reaffirms its commitment to continued joint work with all stakeholders to strengthen the role of civil society in sustainable development.
