Northern Mali: Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc rejects the military option, urges return to 2015 Algiers Agreement

Escalating violence in northern Mali confirms it once again: there is no workable military solution.

In light of the recent security flare-up in Tinzaouatine and its surroundings, the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc reaffirms its conviction that:

• the military option has failed and only makes the crisis more complex;
• there is no place for mercenaries or for foreign interventions that fuel chaos;
• the only solution is a serious return to the 2015 Algiers Agreement, under the auspices of the Algerian state.

Algeria has been, and will remain, the historic guarantor of stability in the Sahel and the voice of reason in the face of proxy wars.
