Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc backs CODESA’s call for a UN human-rights monitoring mechanism in Western Sahara

In light of the rapid developments in the Sahrawi question and renewed international calls to guarantee the protection of human rights in Western Sahara, Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc affirms its full support for the just demands of the campaign launched by CODESA, foremost among them:
- the establishment of a permanent UN mechanism to monitor the human-rights situation;
- enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and independence;
- extending the mandate of the UN Mission (MINURSO) to human rights, as a genuine guarantee to end violations and reveal the facts to the world.
As a civil institution with a liberation ethos, Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc believes the current phase requires:
- more effective international action to protect civilians;
- legal and political pressure to enforce respect for UN charters;
- turning humanitarian commitments into reality, free from double standards.
The Bloc also commends all the international organisations and figures who signed the latest appeal, considering this global momentum a sign of growing awareness of the justice of the Sahrawi cause and of the need to end the last colony in Africa.
Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc will remain a free voice and a steadfast defender of all liberation causes, first and foremost that of the brotherly Sahrawi people.
