Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc mourns former President Liamine Zeroual

It is with deep sorrow and emotion that the members of Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc Foundation received the news of the death of former Algerian President Liamine Zeroual, one of the statesmen who marked a delicate period in Algeria’s history with wisdom and responsibility and left an honourable national legacy that will remain etched in the memory of generations.
The late president was known for his clean record of struggle and service and for a rare humility in times of great responsibility. He chose to serve the homeland quietly and sincerely, then left the highest office with honour, preferring to return to a simple life among his people — an image of loyal men who put the national interest above all else.
Recalling his virtues and positions, we affirm that Algeria has lost a man of great stature, who bore the trust in the darkest of circumstances and helped preserve the stability and unity of the State.
On this sad occasion, the members of Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc extend their deepest condolences to the late president’s family and to the entire Algerian people, praying that God Almighty grant him His vast mercy, welcome him into His paradise and grant his loved ones patience and solace.
Men pass on, but their deeds endure. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.
One Homeland, One Nation, One History, One Destiny
