Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc files complaint with the public prosecutor over disrespect to the national flag

The Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc followed with deep indignation the incident of disrespect to the national flag during the final of the third Algerian TikTok championship, held on 2 June 2026, which caused widespread anger among citizens and all those who cherish the symbols of the Algerian State.

Stressing that respect for the national flag is a national, moral and legal duty that admits no laxity or excuse, the Bloc considers what happened an irresponsible act unworthy of the national banner, which is bound up with the sacrifices of millions of martyrs and with the words "Glory and eternity to our righteous martyrs", part of Algeria's national memory.

Accordingly, the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc announces, in coordination with a number of national organisations and associations, that it has lodged a formal complaint with the territorially competent public prosecutor, in order to open an investigation and establish the legal and administrative responsibilities arising from the incident, whether on the part of the organiser or of any party found to have been negligent or to have contributed to this act, which offended a symbol of national sovereignty.

The Bloc stresses that this step is taken to defend the sanctity of the national flag, preserve the memory of the martyrs and uphold respect for the symbols of the Algerian State, free of any other considerations, in the conviction that protecting national constants is a collective responsibility that tolerates no negligence.
