Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc condemns knife attack on candidate Omrane Lisir and calls for an urgent inquiry

The Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc condemns in the strongest terms the cowardly attack on Mr Omrane Lisir, a candidate in the 2026 legislative elections, while he was carrying out a local campaign activity in the municipality of Oued Djemaa: he was attacked with a knife, suffering a serious injury to his left hand, and was rushed to Khemis Miliana hospital for treatment.
Expressing its deep concern over this serious criminal act, the Bloc:
- calls on the competent security services to open an urgent investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice;
- calls for the necessary protection of candidates and campaigners during the electoral campaign;
- firmly rejects all forms of violence and intimidation that undermine the democratic process;
- reserves its full right to take legal action to ensure justice for the victim.
The Bloc renews its call to favour dialogue and reject violence in all its forms, in order to preserve the security and stability of the political process.
